Workshop Overview:

Parliamentary debating is a form of competitive debate where teams of two or more individuals engage in a structured argument, advocating for and against a particular motion. In a Parliamentary Debating Techniques workshop, participants will learn the research and way to  gather information on a given topic, and how to prepare an argument based on that information. 

This workshop will be in World School Debate format so participants will also learn specific skills and techniques that are relevant to this particular style of parliamentary debate. As well as, how to build arguments based on solid evidence and how to effectively use evidence to support your case. Overall, participants will learn about the specific rules and procedures used in this style of parliamentary debate, including the format of the debate, the time limits for each speech and the procedures for making points of information.
